The
name Love @ Air force especially the ‘@’ made me skeptical that this would be
another regular love story but I was wrong. The synopsis of the story is as
given by author,
“An
unhappy Seargeant Sushil Awasthi feels that his circumstances dumped him into
doing drudgery in the Air Force and he deserved better oit of life. Grumbling oftern,
he accuses his wife, his parents and even Air Force for his agonies. When he
finds that, the newly arrived medical officer, Wing Commander Shabd Mishra is his
best friend of school days, his inferiority complex plunges further down.
The
wing commander is still hankering after his school day’s crush Soumya despite
knowing of her being married to another Air Force Officer, who too, gets
posting at the same station.
How
to things shape up when three classmates get together?
What
fate does the love story of the lovelorn Wing Commander meet?
How
do others around, the officers and the non officers, react to the friendship
between a Sergeant and a Wing Commander?”
Now
let us go to the review of the book. This is probably the first time I told the
synopsis of the story which you can see at the back cover of the book. I told
this because we are fed up with the word love in all worst manners possible and
I want my readers not to miss the book because of the love factor. The first
time author Gaurav Sharma has done a commendable job. As I said the synopsis I won’t
further talk about the characters or the scenes in the novel. The author has a
very good sense of humour which is evident all over and his sensibility is well
seen in using it well.
Another
thing I want to say is this is a Department specific novel or the word which I wanted
to define the novel. We have seen many department specific thrillers but love
story not much in our current day scenario. More than the thrillers Love have
an advantage as it can explore the love and hatred depths of the department. But
there is also a big problem of getting deep which may result in department
explanation rather than fiction. The Author consistently maintained the line
and made sure that the read must be interesting but at the same time insight
about the department is a must. It is evident through the read that the Author
wants the reader to know important and unseen sides of the Air Force and the
human emotions played there.
You
will never believe that the author hasn’t worked in Air Force(Although his
father did) after reading the novel. His background research about the
department is very much intense and he was able to give the key points he wants
to convey without compromising. This is a great step for the author. As the
author has mentioned in the book that he doesn’t want to be just a story teller
rather he yearns to create a stir. The first towards his goal is very well
accomplished. Although the book has some pitfall which is just a bump is a
speedy intense ride. I highly recommend reading this book; it will be a big
break all the readers after a load of Masala. This is a pure recipe with no
nonsense stuff which has to be savored at a stretch.
